Privacy Policy

When you play Don’t Kick the Dog (“DKTD”, or the “Game”) or use our websites, APIs, widgets, or any other products or features we offer (the “Services”), you voluntarily share certain information.

Who your data is shared with

  • With our development team for the purposes outlined in this policy.

What information we collect, and what we do with it

Connected Services

  • Twitch: When you interact with the Game through chat services such as Twitch.tv, we save your username and unique identifier (“Twitch Id”) and chat activity  for purposes of saving your Game progress, tracking your login status, and tracking overall player activity.
  • Discord: Using our Don’t Kick the Dog Account Link Service (“Account Link”) will ask for your permission to view your Connections on Discord. By using Account Link you voluntarily provide us with information about your Discord identity and other account connections you have configured through Discord. We use this to find information about your account in the Game, and allow you to interact with your Game account through Discord.

We use your information to keep our online community safe, and protect legal interests. To do so, we:

  • Review your activity and messages on our Services to detect spam or activity that poses a risk to our community or to the public. This can include working with law enforcement.
  • Analyze users’ log data to identify and investigate suspicious behavior or violations of our policies.

How long we retain your data

  • We keep your information only so long as we need it to provide DKTD to you and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. When we no longer need to use your information and there is no need for us to keep it to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations, we’ll either remove it from our systems or depersonalize it so that we can’t use it to identify you.
  • Storage periods are determined on a case-by-case basis. We keep account information, like your Twitch Id, for as long as your account is in existence because we need it to operate your account.

Your rights and choices

  • At any time you may choose to logout of our Account Link service, which will clear stored Account Link information.
  • Through our #account-support channel on our Discord server (https://discord.gg/ruYVw5z5TN) at any time you can request:
    • To receive information stored about your account privately messaged to you on Discord.
    • To correct or rectify information about your account.
    • To delete your account and data.
  • We will not discriminate against you if you choose to exercise your rights or options related to your personal information. These rights may be limited, for example if fulfilling your request would reveal personal data about another person, where they would infringe the rights of a third party (including our rights) or if you ask us to delete information which we are required by law to keep or have compelling legitimate interest to keep.

How we make changes to this policy

  • We may change this policy from time to time and if we do, we’ll post any changes on this page. If you continue to use DKTD after those changes are in effect, the new policy applies to you.
